As soon as I was able to read, I became obsessed with it. I would read every fiction book I could and would often get into trouble at school because I was reading my book under my desk rather than listening to the assignment. Reading so often brought forth an intense imagination and ideas that soon became short stories.
At the age of 13, I wrote my first full-length novel. After sending it off to one publisher and getting a very courteous denial letter, it sat on a back shelf before finding it again 10 years later. With some re-edits and then a sequel written, I fell back in love with writing a story and was eventually able to see Sementia and its sequel Arica’s Revenge in print and placed in the hands of readers.
My third novel, Beyond Every Sunset, has just started stocking on shelves. The two other stories that have been rolling in my mind are in the works.
I have been asked on more than one occasion how I have been able to write 3 books while I work a full-time job, a part-time job and raising three young girls. The short and simple answer is: It isn’t easy. But when is accomplishing your dreams ever easy?
Go after your dreams! Be patient because it may not come to pass as quickly as you’d like, but it will be so much more worthwhile when it does come! It took years to see my writings get published, but it was an amazing feeling to see that dream become a reality. So don’t give up on your dreams, but prepare yourself for all the God has for you!
