I have gotten several comments about how the main character, Travis, in my novel Beyond Every Sunset didn’t know which way was up half the time. The guy had so many things thrown at him that he couldn’t think of what to do. But isn’t that just like life?

Life throws us curveballs. We think everything is going great and the way we are expecting and then WHAM! We forgot to swing the bat and get smacked in the head instead.

I wanted to write a story that was true to life. Because that can touch us right in our soul and say “Yeah, I’ve been there. I know how he feels.”

There’s the saying the God will never give you more than you can handle. I often hear and have said in response to that, that I wish He didn’t trust me so much.

Life is tough, but my favorite line in the book is from Travis’ mother. She states, “God never promised this life would be easy. He did, however, say that He would never leave you nor forsake you. We need to focus on Him and His promises. He will take you beyond every sunset and whatever comes after.”

I love that because with struggles that I go through in my life and times that I feel I am barely hanging on, I need to remember who I am relying on. Where is my focus? It won’t magically make everything in my life perfect, but I will have peace and trust in the One who can take things that were bad and turn them into something amazing!
