In the book, Alice in Wonderland, Alice is quoted saying this,
Sometimes I believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
When was the last time you believed in something impossible in a day let alone before breakfast? What about a week?
I understand how hard it can be to believe in something impossible happening. Believing in something so unlikely. There have been numerous times in my own life where I have given up. Completely believed that something was truly impossible and even God couldn’t make it happen.
I think God wants us to have more of an Alice attitude. One where we can believe in the impossible things because He is the God of the impossible.
You see, when we say to God that there is no way, we are trying to put him in a box. We are doubting His ability to make the impossible possible!
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.””
Mark 10:27 NIV
God wants to break out of the box you’re trying to put Him in and say, “Let me show you something!”
It may take years for you to see the impossible makes its reality. It had been 6 years and I had given up on the thought of seeing Beyond Every Sunset in print. I had gone through so many avenues and everything had fallen through. It seemed impossible. I remember asking God why He gave me this story if He didn’t want it shared. He simply told me to trust. Then all of sudden I got a break through in the most unlikely way!
Recently, I had a friend tell me she had so much debt she couldn’t see a way out of it. It was impossible! And then suddenly, out of seemingly no where, God made a way and her debt has been paid!
Maybe you know someone and thinking that it is impossible for them to change their ways. They will keep making the wrong choices or whatever the case is. I have been there and I have seen proof that we all can choose to change. A family member is living proof of how God can take someone you least expect – the impossible case – and in a moment can change their life from one that is filled with everything the world has to offer to one that has been completely renewed and redeemed by the blood of Christ!
This is where faith comes in. It’s too easy to get caught up in HOW something is going to happen instead of believing in WHO can make it happen.
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20 NIV
Our worldly minds cannot often see beyond what we know right in front of us. But when we take a leap of faith and trust that God has a plan, AMAZING things can happen!
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;”
Proverbs 3:5 NIV
So I would challenge you. Start waking up in the morning and dreaming of impossible things that Christ can do in your life. Write them down and have faith that it will come to pass and watch God start to work! You never know what’s in store and the incredible ways that He can make them happen!
